The standard membership fee is €15.00 per month, for students and 18 year olds there is a reduced rate of €10.00 per month. The fees are debited quarterly in advance by the OSC.

Is there a trial training session or can I just drop by?

There is no trial training. For kendo beginners, we offer a great beginners' course with the Tekkeikan Juniors and the adults. If you would like to have a look at our training, simply contact Armin (for the adults) or Mika (for the Tekkeikan Juniors).

Juniors

How old do I have to be?

To join the Tekkeikan Juniors, you should be at least 7 years old and no older than 18. From the age of 16 you can join the adult beginners' course. However, we would recommend that you join the Tekkeikan Juniors first. If you have any questions, you can contact Mika directly at any time.

What should I bring with me?

You must register in advance for the beginners' course and then only need to bring sportswear (no training shoes) and a lot of enthusiasm. We will provide you with the shinai (training sword) and probably the best trainers in the world.

Travel allowance

Does the Tekkeikan cover any of the costs?

If you travel to courses, tournaments or other kendo events, you will receive a subsidy from the club based on distance. Of course, this only applies as long as the budget allows. For travel allowances and reimbursement of expenses, send an e-mail to Armin. For reimbursement of expenses, please send a scan of the receipt (if available).

What is the scale?

  • 25 Euro - Germany A - (Brandenburg, Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania, Saxony, Saxony-Anhalt and Thuringia)
  • 50 euros - Germany B - (Baden-Württemberg, Bavaria, Bremen, Hamburg, Hesse, Lower Saxony, North Rhine-Westphalia, Rhineland-Palatinate, Saarland and Schleswig-Holstein)
  • 75 euros for all other locations around the world
  • What about events organised by the DKenB?

DKenB events are usually organised and funded by the Kendoverband Berlin e.V. (KenVB). Participants should register for the trips to the event organised by KenVB directly or via Armin (at the Tekkeikan Juniors byMika) register with KenVB. Privately organised trips are not covered by Tekkeikan, as a trip to the event is offered by KenVB. Coaches who wish to travel to the event from Tekkeikan should contact the KenVB and clarify their participation in the supervision of all kendokas participating from the association in order to take part in the organised trip. If there is no need for this on the part of the KenVB and the trainers still wish to travel with the coaches, the Tekkeikan will subsidise the trips at the usual rates and under the specified conditions.

    Other events/tournament trips

In general, trips to events are subsidised at the usual rates and subject to the stipulated conditions and should always be approved by the board before registration. Tournament trips should be registered by mid-December of the previous year at the latest so that they can be included in the budget planning and require approval by the board. Tournament trips should always be planned with the following aspects in mind:
  • Environmentally friendly (e.g. railway)
  • Cost-effective (several people per vehicle, e.g. hire of a multi-seater)
  • Overnight stay in the hall for all (if offered), alternatively in youth hostels or shared rooms
  • There should be at least 3 participants
  • My first Bōgu

    What does a Bōgu cost?

A Bōgu starts at around 450 euros and there is no upper limit.

That's not a small amount of money!

We as Tekkeikan want to give everyone the opportunity to train in a Bōgu and therefore offer you a financial aid. Of course, this only applies as long as the budget allows.

    What we offer you

You will receive an interest-free loan (Of course, this only applies as long as the budget allows) of 450 Euro from us for the order of your Bōgu. You can pay this back in 12 installments of 37.50 euros each. Please write if you are interested Armin if you are interested.

    Can I rent a Bōgu?

In our club, we have also received one or two bōgu through donations. These are available to every Tekkeikaner as a loan bōgu. However, these should only be used temporarily. We charge a deposit of 50 euros. The hire fee can be between 0-10 euros per month, depending on the condition and age of the bōgu. Please write if you are interested Armin if you are interested.
